Answer:

(a) Margie inserted her homework in the proper slot as her computer teacher suggested with a sigh. She was thinking of the schools they had when her grandfather's grandfather was a little boy.

(b) She thought that the old schools might have been a lot of fun. She thought of how the students might've enjoyed playing in the schoolyard and helping each other with homework etc.

Margie's school was in her house. It was in a room next to her bedroom where she learnt by herself with a mechanical teacher. She had no classmates and she did not have any fun at school.

In the old schools however, children came to a special building called school and learnt together with a real teacher who was a human being and not a computer.
