Maribhai a famous mithaiwala made a unique mithai. It has 2 spherical gulab jamuns of radius 2cm each merged with a cylindrical
barfi of radius 1cm and height 10cm such that the bar fi passes through the centre of the 2 gulab jamuns. Each gulab jamun is placed
at the centre of each half of the barfi. How many surfaces does the resulting solid contain?

Answer:

The resulting solid with one barfi and 2 gulabjamuns will have 5 surfaces

Explanation:

Height of Barfi=10cm

And radius of spherical gulabjamun=2 cm

Now height of gulabjamun will be 4 cm

It is given that each gulabjamun is placed at the centre of each half of Barfi

considering first half of Barfi,Gulabjamun of 4 cmheight is inserted at the centre leaving 0.5 cm on the top and 0.5 cm at the bottom

Now consider second half, it is similarly placed as in the first case

Now the surfaces are

(1) At the top 0.5 cm Barfi

(2) Followed by 4 cm height Gulabjamun

(3) Followed by (0.5 cm barfi of first half+o.5 cm barfi of second half) = 1cm barfi on whole.

(4) Followed by 4 cm height Gulabjamun

(5) 0.5 cm barfi of second half
