Mark and Henry get  £ 63 altogether

Solution:

Mark and Henry win some money and share it in the ratio 4 : 3

Let the share of Mark be 4x

Let the share of Henry be 3x

Mark gets £ 9 more than Henry

4x = 9 + 3x

4x - 3x = 9

x = 9

Thus,

Share of Mark = 4x = 4(9) = 36

Share of Henry = 3x = 3(9) = 27

How much did they get all together?

36 + 27 = 63

Thus they get  £ 63 altogether
