Mark any three non - collinear points A, B and C. Join them to form a triangle. Draw  \overleftrightarrow {PQ} passing through A and parallel to  \overleftrightarrow {BC} .

2) Join the three non collinear points to form a triangle.
3) Draw a line parallel to  \overleftrightarrow {PQ} .

Arises a theorem called Basic proportionality theorem.

The theorem says, If a line is drawn parallel to one side of the triangle, and the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.
