SOLUTION

GIVEN

  • Mark started selling snacks at the nearby school.

  • In one day he spends 300 pesos for rent and 20 pesos for each snack item he prepares.

  • His expenses in a single day can be expressed as the function C(x)=20x+300, where x is the number of items and C(x) is his daily expenses in pesos.

TO DETERMINE

  • The expenses if Mark prepares 100 snack items

  • The expenses if Mark prepares 150 snack items

EVALUATION

Number of snacks = x

C(x) = Daily expenses in pesos

Since Mark spends 300 pesos for rent and 20 pesos for each snack item he prepares

So we have

C(x) = 20x + 300

1. We have to find the expenses if Mark prepares 100 snack items

Here x = 100

Total expenses for 100 snack items

= C(100)

= ( 20 × 100 ) + 300 pesos

= ( 2000 + 300 ) pesos

= 2300 pesos

2. We have to find the expenses if Mark prepares 150 snack items

Here x = 150

Total expenses for 150 snack items

= C(150)

= ( 20 × 150 ) + 300 pesos

= ( 3000 + 300 ) pesos

= 3300 pesos
