The Rashtrakuta dynasty was at its peak during the reign of Govinda III (9th Cent. AD). They had control over Most of Maharashtra, whole of Karnataka (their capital was Manyakhet now known as Malkhed in Karnataka), Partial Madhya Pradesh and Partial Gujarat.

The Rashtrakutas were fighting with the Paal rulers of Bengal and Pratiharas of Gujarat for the possession of the City of Kannauj as it was an important centre of trade during their times.

Hope this helps.

✍The Rajputs ruled over Rajasthan. Rashtrakutas ruled over the southern part of India and the Palas were ruling over Bengal
