mark the points A (2,2 ), B(2,-2),C ( -2,-2)and D (-2 ,2 )on a graph paper and join these points in order. Identify the figure so obtained. Also find the area of the figure

The figure obtained is a quadrilateral  ABCD.

We can see in graph that AB and DC are parallel to y-axis.

and AD and BC are parallel to x-axis.

SO , ABCD is a rectangle.

and 

ab \: = \sqrt{ {(2 - 2)}^{2} + {(2 + 2)}^{2} } = \sqrt{ {4 }^{2} } \\ \\ ab \: = 4 \: units \\ \\ \\ ad \: = \sqrt{ {( - 2 - 2)}^{2} + ( {2 - 2)}^{2} } = \sqrt{ {( - 4)}^{2} + 0 } \\ \\ ad \: = 4 \: units

thus ABCD is a square.

area of square ABCD = 
 {ab}^{2} = {4}^{2} = 16 \: squnits.
