Human activities like defrostation can make fertile land useless, makes flooding more harmful as trees decrease the speed of floods. Other activities like cutting of mountains or hills etc for making roads or urbanisation can increase the risks of land slides. Dams store high volumes of water that increases the pressure on earth becoming a major reason for earthquakes. Furthermore, Cutting of mangrove trees for making boats etc can increase the risk of flooding. Melting of glaciers due to global warming can cause severe flooding and can even become the reason for typhoons.
