QUESTION :-

marks scored by A are 25 % more than that of B . By what per cent are B's marks less than that of A .

ANSWER :-

20 %

STEP BY STEP SOLUTION :-

Suppose B scores = 100 marks

Then, A scores = 125 marks

If A scores = 125 marks,

then B scores = 100 marks

If A scores = 100 marks,

then B scores 100/125 x 100 marks = 80 marks

→ B scores (100 - 80)% marks less than A

Hence, B scores 20% less marks than A

Alternative Method:-

Suppose B scores x marks

Then, A scores 125/100 × x marks = 5x/4 marks

If A scores 5x/4 marks, then B scores x marks

• If A scores 100 marks , then B scores

→ x/5x × 4 ×100 marks = 80 marks

→ B scores (100 - 80)% marks less than A

hence , B scores 20% less marks than A
