Given :  linear regression equation y = 1.245 x - 3.684

Marquis spent $40 on songs

y = cost

x = songs purchased

To Find : Which is the best estimate of the number of songs that Marquis purchased?

Solution:

y = 1.245 x - 3.684

Marquis spent $40 on songs

=> y = 40

=> 40 = 1.245 x - 3.684

=> 1.245 x = 43.684

=> x = 43.684 / 1.245

=> x = 35.1

Hence

35 is the  best estimate of the number of songs that Marquis purchased
