Martin mixed sulfur (a yellow solid) with iron filings (a black solid) in a ceramic dish called a crucible. Then he separated them using a magnet. What kind of a change is this?

This is a physical change because both sulphur and iron are not changed in terms of their properties therefore iron can seperated easily by manget.
but if you heat them together it is a chemical change.
then you can't seperate iron from sulphur.

Answer: Physical change
A physical change refers to a reversible change in the physical properties of elements involved in formation of mixtures. When two or more elements combine together they form a mixture. The mixing of sulfur with iron filings results in a mixture. But the elements of the mixture can be separated by use of magnet which attracts the iron fillings. This change in the mixture of iron filling and sulfur into separate elements is called as physical change.
