Mary has just returned to work after taking a
special leave to care for her elderly mother. For
financial reasons she needs to work full-time. She
is very competent in her work, but has difficulties
with her mother's home care arrangements,
causing her to miss a number of team meetings
(which usually take place at the beginning of
each day) and leave work early. Her absences
are putting pressure on her and her overworked
colleagues. One of her male colleagues makes
comments such as "a woman's place is in the
home" and undermines her at every opportunity,
putting her under even greater stress. Consider
yourself as her manager, and you are aware that
the flow of work through the practice is coming
under pressure.
1.In light of the above case, elaborate the ethical
dilemma.
2. What action would you take to handle the
situation?

Answer:

Explanation:NAME:-ABHISHEK KUMAR ANNU

THE CASE COMES UNDER FOLLOWING:-

1-personal life to care for mother v/s professional committment to work

2-lack of colleaguity among the employs and lack of respect from women collugues.

HOW WILL I DEAL WITH THE SITUATION:-

In this case the women employee is competent and is not coming late deliberately so her problems are genuine.

as far as team meetings are concerned it can be held in afternoon time after lunch break as it is only her temporary problem.

il ask her if she needs any help regarding home care arrangements and provide her with it if possible.

as she is in real problem she will be allowed bit concessions but she will have to complete her part of projects on time even doing overtime.

il convey team meeting and try to make collugues understand her genuine problem and cope with it for sometime

as far as male collugue is concerned il talk with him personally and warn him not to make such statements as it dents the confidence of that women as well as other women will ask the women to complain against the male collugue if this goes on to internal complaints committee.
