Mary invested $200 for 3 years at 5% per
annum. John invested $300 at the same

rate. If they both received the same amount
35-10
of money in simple interest, for how many

Answer:

Let the no of years John invested be 'T'

Then,

Simple Interest, I = PTR/100

Mary: I = 200×3×5/100

John: I = 300×T×5/100

Equate these both.

You get T = 2 years
