Given:

Amount received from her mother = $24000

She used a quarter of money to buy furniture a third of money was saved in bank account.

To find:

Amount spend on the school fees.

Solution:

Amount received by Mary from her mother = $24000

She used a quarter of her money to buy furniture.

Therefore, amount spent to purchase the furniture = 24000\times \frac{1}{4}= $6000

She saved one third of the money in her bank account.

So, the amount saved in bank account = 24000\times \frac{1}{3} = $8000

Total amount spent on furniture and saved in her account = $(6000 + 8000)

                                                                                               = $14000

Remaining amount = 24000 - 14000 = $10000

Therefore, Mary spent $10000 on the school fees.
