Answer:

Take 89 minus 11 to find twice of Jerry's number. To find Jerry's number divide the answer by two which is 89-11 =78. 78 divide by 2 is 39. To find Mary's number add 39 and 11. Hence Mary has 50 Jerry has 39

Let Mary and Sid's number be ( x + 11 ) and x respectively.

As per question,

( x + 11 ) + x = 181

2 x + 11 = 181

2 x = 181 - 11

2 x = 170

x = 170 / 2

x = 85

Check :

( x + 11 ) + x = 181

( 85 + 11 ) + 85 = 181

96 + 85 = 181

181 = 181

Hence proved.

Therefore, Mary and Sid's numbers are 96 and 85 respectively.

Hope it helps.
