I think so she would be thinking that the iron nails sinks in the water but the huge ships does not.
This happens because the area of nail is extremely less as compared to a ship due which the nail sinks and as ship has a large area the buoyant force is more due to which it doesn't sinks and the buoyant force applied on the nail is less due to which the nail sinks.
