Fraction of money spent on calculator = 2/5

Find the fraction of money left:

1 - 2/5 = 3/5

Find the fraction of money spent on a book:

4/7 x 3/5 = 12/35

Answer: She spent 12/35 of the money on a book

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To find the fraction of saving:

Fraction of money saved = 1 - calculator - book

Fraction of money saved = 1 - 2/5 - 12/35 = 9/35

Fraction of the money saved = 9/35

Mrityunjaymaurya: give the step of salv
TooFree: Fraction of saving added to the end of the answer :)

here is your answer OK dude

Since we know that because "Mary spent 2/5 of her money", she'll have 3%2F5 of her money left (since 1-2%2F5=3%2F5). So she has %283%2F5%29x dollars left. Now we also know that she has "$60 left", so this means that %283%2F5%29x=60

%283%2F5%29x=60 Start with the given equation.

3x=5%2860%29 Multiply both sides by 5.

3x=300 Multiply.

x=%28300%29%2F%283%29 Divide both sides by 3 to isolate x.

x=100 Reduce.

and it's one or solution to question.....

Let us say she start with x.
(3/5)*x is what she spend on food.
The remainder after she buy the food is x - (3/5)*x then she spend 3/4 of this remainder on clothes.
she spend (3/4) * [x - (3/5)*x ] on clothes. What she had originally is x she spend on food (3/5)*x , she spend on clothes (3/4) * [x - (3/5)*x ] .
So what she have left is:
x - (3/5)*x - (3/4) * [x - (3/5)*x ] = 216
Now you need to solve for X
