Mass of the body does not depend on gravity and weight always depend on gravity . example if a mass is 1 kg in earth and if you will meause it on moon it will be 1 kg. but if the wight is 6 kg in earth and then in moon it wait will be 1 kg. THAT SHOW WEIGHT VARIES PLACE TO PLACE BUT MASS DOES NOT VARIES PLACE TO PLACE . HOPE IT WILL HELP YOU

Weight varies from place to place because it is a strong function of gravity.Recall that mass is universally constant.Hence weight varies because gravity varies......Other reason for variation of weight across the Earth's surface are rotation of the Earth, altitude and local topography of an area.
