Mass of a body on the surface of earth is 20kg. what is weight of the body (1) = on the surface of earth? (2)= atoms the centre of the earth.
Answers
Given :
- Mass of body on surface of Earth, m = 20 kg
To find :
- Weight of body on Earth's surface
- Weight of body at the centre of earth
Knowledge required :
- Weight of any object is defined as the force acting on the object due to gravity.
therefore,
Weight = mass × acceleration due to gravity
Solution :
When the object will be at Surface of earth its mass will be 2 kg and acceleration due to gravity will be 9.8 m/s², hence
→ Weight at Earth's surface = 20 × 9.8
→ Weight at Earth's surface = 196 N
therefore,
- Weight of object at Earth's surface will be 196 Newton.
When the object will be at Centre of Earth its mass as well as acceleration of gravity will be zero, hence
→ Weight at centre of the Earth = 0
therefore,
- Weight of object at the centre of Earth will be 0.
→ Mass of the body on the surface of earth = 20kg
→ we have to find the weight of the object on the surface of earth and atoms the centre of the earth
→ well , weight is just the force , due to accelerate due to gravity !
→ F = mg
→ Here , F = force , m = mass of object and g = acceleration due to gravity
→ value of g on earth = 9.8 m/s²
→ F = 20 × 9.8
→ F = 196 N
Now , Question number 2.
Well , if a body will be on the centre of earth , it's weight will be zero ! it is because the mass from the centre of earth is equally distributed in all directions , hence the net force is 0 there .
