2 moles Mg needs 1 mole O²

1 mole Mg needs ½ mole O²

No: of moles of Mg in 12g = Given mass/Molar mass

= 12/12 = 1 mole

Therefore,

½ mole of O² = Given mass/Molar mass

Given mass = ½×16 = 8g

Therefore, 12g Mg needs 8g of O² to burn
