Ocean currents influence the temperatures of regions through which they pass. Warm currents warm the sea breeze blowing over them towards land, thereby increasing temperature of the coastal area. Similarly, cold currents cool the sea breeze blowing over them landwards, bringing down temperature of the coastal area.
An example for a warm current is the Gulf Stream which warms north-western parts of Europe. The Humboldt Current cools parts of Lima in Peru.

Ocean currents modify the climate of coastal regions by generating warm or cold breeze and affecting the temperature of the coastal regions.
Explanation:
- Ocean currents affect the temperature of the region through which they pass.
- Warm currents form the warm breeze and the warm sea breeze blowing towards the land increases the temperature of the coastal region.
- Similarly, cold currents form the sea breeze that blows cold towards the land thereby decreasing the temperature of the coastal region.
