According to the question,

⇒ product of x and (x + 1) = 306

⇒x (x + 1) = 306

⇒x² + x - 306 = 0

⇒ x² + 18x - 17x - 306 = 0

⇒x (x + 18) - 17 (x + 18) = 0

⇒(x + 18)(x - 17) = 0

∴ So here there will be two values of x = 17 and -18

(∴here -18 would be neglected as only positive integers had to answered)

so x = 17 and (x +1) = 18

Therefore the numbers are 17 and 18.
