Match each social class with its role in Japanese feudal society.
1) shogun --- Ruler
- In Japanese history, a military emperor was known as a shogun (Japanese: "barbarian-quelling generalissimo"). The title was first employed in the Heian Period, when a general would occasionally receive it following a fruitful war.
2) samurai --- Warrior
- Japanese armour. The warriors of ancient Japan were known as samurai (or bushi). They eventually comprised the dominant military elite, which rose to become the greatest social caste during the Edo Period (1603-1867). 22-May-2022
3) daimyo --- wealthy landowner
- The land on which his chief retainers were enfeoffed and his personal granary land were split among the daimyo's domain. His granary land often made up between 30 and 40 percent of the total.
- Large landowners known as daimyo held their properties at the shogun's discretion. They had command over the armies that the shogun would call upon for military assistance. Samurai were low-level nobility who controlled land under the daimyo's rule.
