Answer:

Natural Vegetation

The grasses, shrubs, and trees that grow naturally without any human interference or help from human beings are called natural vegetation.

Natural vegetation depends on local climate, especially on the amount of rainfall.

Tropical Rain Forests

These forests are found in areas that receive heavy rainfall, making them so dense that very little sunlight reaches the surface.

Many trees found in these forests shed their leaves at different times around the year, and this makes the forest appear green all around the year.

Important trees are mahogany, rosewood, and ebony and these forests are found in Andaman and Nicobar islands, the North-eastern states and the western slope of the Western Ghats.

Tropical Deciduous Forests

They are also called monsoon forests and are not very dense. The shed their leaves at a particular time in the year.

Important trees are sal, neem, peepal, teak, and sheesham  and they are found in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Odisha and parts of Maharashtra.

Thorny Bushes

This vegetation is found in the dry parts of the country and their leaves are in the form of spines to save water.

Important trees are cactus, khair, babool, and keekar and they are found in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and eastern slopes of Western Ghats.

Mountain Vegetation

The vegetation on mountains changes with changes in height because the as height increases, temperature drops.

At a height between 1500 to 2500 metres, most trees are conical in shape and are known as coniferous trees, and chir, pine and deodar are the most common coniferous trees.

Mangrove Forests

These forests can survive in saline water, so they are found in the Sunderbans and in the Andaman and Nicobar islands.

Sundari is a common mangrove tree, and the Sundarbans delta is named after it.
