Answer :

(a)

Adults (x) = 4 ; tickets cost = 4x

children (y) = 7 ; tickets cost = 7y, but if adult tickets costs twice the price of childs ticket, then 4x can also be written as 8y.

(a) = Children = 7y & adults = 8y

(b)

totally all tickets - including adult tickets which are now converted to children tickets are 7y + 8y = 15y and so that means a children's ticket costs = total amount payed divided by children tickets taken = 45/15 = €3.

so if a children's ticket is €3 then, an adults ticket would be €3 × 2 = €6.

and there are 4 adults so all the adults ticket costs 4 × €6 = €24 and there were 7 children so they're tickets cost 7 × €3 = €21 and as you can see €24 + €21 = €45 which was the total amount

(b) cost of adult ticket = €6
