In the given figure it can be observed that on Column A there are some substances and in Column B there are some numbers with no unit.

These numbers are refractive Index of given mediums.

Now let's match the columns :-

For this we must know that refractive Index of a medium is the ratio of speed of light in air to speed of light in the given medium.

1) Now, speed of light in water = 2.2\times  {10}^{8}  \frac{m}{s}

Therefore refractive Index of water is :-

 =  \frac{3 \times  {10}^{8} }{2.2 \times  {10}^{8} }

 = 1.33

Therefore Column A (1) ----> Cloumn B (d)

Now speed of light in Ruby = 1.7 × 10^8 m/s

Now refractive Index of ruby :

 =  \frac{3 \times  {10}^{8} }{1.7 \times  {10}^{8} }

 = 1.76

Therefore Column A (2) ----> Column B (a)

Now speed of light in benzene = 2 × 10^8 m/s

Now refractive Index of benzene :

 \frac{3 \times  {10}^{8} }{2 \times  {10}^{8} }

 = 1.5

Therefore Column A (3) -------> Column B (e)

Now speed of light in diamond = 1.24 × 10^8 m/s

Now refractive Index of Diamond :

 \frac{3 \times  {10}^{8} }{1.24 \times  {10}^{8} }

 = 2.42

Therefore Column A (4) -------> Column B (b).
