For quality assurance, with respect to instruments and other equipment the following requirements should be met:

1. Apparatus used for generation of data, and for controlling environmental factors relevant to the study should be suitably located and of appropriate design and adequate capacity.

2. The apparatus used should be periodically inspected, cleaned, maintained, and calibrated according to Standard Operating Procedures. Records of procedures should be maintained.

In practice, therefore, a number of record forms and instructions need to be prepared.
