Given :  ABCD is a trapezium AB || CD

AB = 8, AQ = 6 and QC = 5,

To find  :  CD

Solution:

in ΔAQB and  ΔCQD

∠QAB = ∠QCD     Alternate angles

∠QBA = ∠QDC     Alternate angles

ΔAQB  ~  ΔCQD  using AA similarity

AQ/CQ  = AB / CD

=> 6 / 5  =  8/CD

=> CD = 40/6

=> CD = 20/3
