Let Rahul age be 'x'

Arun's age be y

Given y = x - 5------(i)

four years later Rahul will be twice as old as Arun

x + 4 = 2(y + 4)

Substitute (i)

x+4= 2(x -5) + 8

⇒ x + 4 = 2x - 10 + 8

⇒x=6

... Rahul's age = 6 years

Arun's age = (x - 5) = 6 - 5 = 1 year
