Given :  56 students have registered as a member of Police Cadet, Fire Brigade Cadet and Girl Guides.

Each student is allowed to register one unit uniform only.

number of student who registered as members of Fire Brigade Cadet is one-fifth of the number of students registered as members of Police Cadet.

The number of students who registered as members of Girl Guides is 8

To Find :  ratio of the number of members of Police Cadet to Fire Brigade cadet to Girl Guides.

Solution:

Let say number of members of Police Cadet  = 5X

then  number of members of  Fire Brigade = (1/5)5X = X

members of Girl Guides  = 8

=> 5X + X + 8  =  56

=> 6X = 48

=> X = 8

Hence members of Police Cadet  = 5X  = 5(8) = 40

number of members of  Fire Brigade  = 8

members of Girl Guides  = 8

 ratio of the number of members of Police Cadet to Fire Brigade cadet to Girl Guides.  = 40 : 8 : 8

= 5 : 1 : 1

Hence 5 : 1 : 1  is the required answer
