Answer:

Given: cost of 7 metres of cloth is Rs 294;

First of all we should understand the unitary method. So the unitary method is a technique for solving a problem by first finding the value of a single unit, and then finding the necessary value by multiplying the single unit value.

Now as we know what unitary method is, let’s solve the problem.

so, cost of 7m cloth = Rs 294

so, cost of 1m cloth = Rs 2947

42

7)294¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯

28−−−−−×14

140¯¯¯¯¯¯

so, cost of 1m cloth = Rs 42

Now, cost of 5m cloth = Rs 42 × 5

Since the cost of 1m cloth is Rs 42 so, in order to get the cost of 5m, simply multiply it by 5.

Cost of 5m cloth = 210

So, the answer is Rs 210.

In the question :-

As in the question Cost of 7m cloth is given as Rs 294 . First we will find the cost of 1m cloth by dividing the cost of 7m of cloth i.e Rs 294 by 7 . As we have to find the cost of 5m cloth , for that simplify multiply the cost of 1m to 5 .

Solution :-

Cost of 7m cloth = ₹ 294

Cost of 1m cloth = Cost of 7m cloth / 7

Cost of 1m cloth = \frac{294}{7}

Cost of 1m cloth = 42

Now,

cost of 5m cloth = Cost of 1m ×5

Cost of 5m cloth = 42×5

Cost of 5m cloth = 210

Therefore , Cost of 5m cloth = Rs 210

I did the first part if u want u can do 2nd part of the question too , but there is a mistake in question that instead of cost of 40 such books there should be weight of 40 such books as we are given weight of 72 books is 9 kg .
