cos²60° + sin²30°
(1/2)² + (1/2)²
= 1/4 + 1/4
= 1/2
since cos 60 = 1/2
sin 30 = 1/2

Hope u like my process
======================

we know that,

 =  >  \bf \:  \sin(x)  =  \cos(90 - x)
______________________

So,
  =  >  \bf \: \cos ^{2} (60)  +  \sin ^{2} (30)  \\  \\  =  {( \cos(90 - 30) )}^{2}  +  \sin^{2}  (30)  \\  \\  =   {( \sin(30)) }^{2}  +  {( \sin(30) )}^{2}  \\  \\  = 2 {( \sin(30) )}^{2}  = 2 \times  {( \frac{1}{2} )}^{2}  \\  \\  =  \bf \underline{ \frac{1}{2} }
