To Find :   the smallest number

Solution:

the smallest number  which when divided by 28 ,35 and 42 gives a remainder 5 of every time.

= LCM (28 , 35 , 42)  + 5

LCM  - Least common multiplier of given numbers is the least number which is perfectly divisible by given numbers.

LCM = product of each factor  of highest power

28 = 2 * 2 * 7

35 = 5 * 7

42 = 2 *  3 * 7

LCM = 2 * 2 * 3 * 5 * 7

= 420
