Step-by-step explanation:
Given :-
A company gives x% dividend on its ₹60 shares, whereas the return on the investment in these
shares is (x + 3)%. If the market value of each share is ₹50.
To find :-
Find the value of x ?
Solution :-
Given that :
Percentage of dividend given by a company on shares of ₹60 = x%
The return amount on each share of ₹60
= x% of 60
=> x% × 60
=>(x/100)×60
=> 60x/100
=> 6x/10
=> 3x/5 -----------(1)
Percentage of dividend given by the company on
shares of each ₹50 = (x+3)%
The return amount on each share of ₹50.
= (x+3)% of 50
= (x+3)% × 50
= ((x+3)/100)×50
= (x+3)×50/100
= (x+3)/2--------(2)
Both are returns given by the company
From (1) &(2)
=> 3x/5 = (x+3)/2
On applying cross multiplication then
=> 2(3x) = 5(x+3)
=> 6x = 5x+15
=> 6x-5x = 15
=>x = 15
Therefore, x = 15
