Step-by-step explanation:

maths chapter 2 fractions and decimals exercise 2.1 questions 1 ,2 (NCERT) book

Given Maths chapter 2 fractions and decimals exercise 2.1

Solve 2 – 3/5

Convert this to like fraction by making it equivalent, so we get

So lcm is 5

So 2/1 x 5/5 = 10/5

Also 3/5 x 1/1 =  3/5

Now the denominators are same, so we get 10/5 – 3/5 = 7/5

4 + 7/8

So lcm of 1,8 is 8

So 4/1 x 8/8 = 32/8

Also 7/8 x 1/1 = 7/8

Now 32/8 + 7/8 = 39/8

3/5 + 2/7

So lcm of 5,7 is 35

So 3/5 x 7/7 = 21/35

Also 2/7 x 5/5 = 10/35

So 21/35 + 10/35 = 31/35

2 2/3 + 3 ½

Convert mixed fraction to improper fraction, we get

8/3 + 7/2

So lcm of 3,2 is 6

So 8/3 x 2/2 = 16/6

Also 7/2 x 3/3 = 21/6

So 16/6 + 21/6 = 37/6

Arrange the following in descending order.

2/9, 2/3, 8/21

Now lcm of 9 ,3,,21 = 63

2/9 x 63 = 14

2/3 x 63 = 42

8/21 x 63 = 24

Arranging this in descending order we get

 42, 24 , 42

2/3, 8/21, 2/9

1/5, 3/7, 7/10

So lcm of 5,7 and 10 = 70

1/5 x 70 = 14

3/7 x 70 = 30

7/10 x 70 = 49

Arranging in descending order we get

49, 30, 14

7/10, 3/7,1/5
