as u know what the eq is given

taking u=1/3x+y and v=1/3x-y,the given system of equation become

u+v=3/4--------------1

and 1/2u-1/2v=-1/4------2

adding 1.and 2

2u=3/4-1/4

2u=2/4

u=1/4

putting u=1/4 in =en 1,we get

1/4+v=3/4

just solve it ,v=1/2

now u=1/4 gives

1/3x+y=1/4

3x+y=4-------3

and v=1/2 gives

1/3x-y=1/2   or 3x-y=2------------4

adding 3 and 4

6x=6 or x=1

putting x=1 in =en 3 ,we get

3+y=4   or y= 4-3=1

hence x=1 and y=1
