An angle whose vertex is at the center of the circle is a central angle.

A central angle is an angle whose apex or vertex is at the center of the circle. The arms of the central angle are two radii of the circle.

The central angel is formed when two points on the arc of the circle project an angle on the center of the circle. When these same two points project an angle on the other half of the circumference of the circle then by the properties of circle that angle is half the central angle formed by those points.
