You will observe the following. *Number of pegs used in first square, S = 1 = 1 S1 Number of pegs used in second square, S. = 4 = 2² S2 Number of pegs used in third square, S = 9 = 3 S3 S4 Number of pegs used in fourth square, S = 16 = 4² Number of pegs used in fifth square, S = 25 = 5 Number of pegs used in sixth square, S = 36 = 6 Number of pegs used in seventh square, S = 49=7 The numbers 1.4.9.16, 25, 36, 49 are called square numbers since these number of pegs can be arranged to make squares. Continuing S7 in the same way, you can get the next square numbers as 8 = 64, 9 = 81, 10 = 100. 11% = 121 and so on. S6​
