Let the Number of Eggs in the Basket be : E

Given : 20% of the Eggs in the Basket Broke.

⇒ 20% of Eggs \mathsf{= (\frac{20}{100} \times E)}

⇒ 20% of Eggs \mathsf{= (\frac{E}{5})}

Given : 25% of the Eggs in the Basket were reserved for the Guests

⇒ 25% of Eggs \mathsf{= (\frac{25}{100} \times E)}

⇒ 25% of Eggs \mathsf{= (\frac{E}{4})}

Given : The Remaining 22 Eggs were consumed by the Family Members

It means : The Sum of 20% of Eggs which Broke and 25% of Eggs which were reserved for the Guests and 22 Eggs which were consumed by the Family Members should be Equal to Total Number of Eggs in the Basket (E)

\mathsf{\implies \frac{E}{5} + \frac{E}{4} + 22 = E}

\mathsf{\implies (\frac{4E + 5E}{20}) + 22 = E}

\mathsf{\implies (\frac{9E}{20}) + 22 = E}

\mathsf{\implies (E - \frac{9E}{20}) = 22}

\mathsf{\implies ( \frac{20E - 9E}{20}) = 22}

\mathsf{\implies ( \frac{11E}{20}) = 22}

\mathsf{\implies ( \frac{E}{20}) = 2}

\mathsf{\implies E = 40}

⇒ The Total Number of Eggs in the Basket = 40

⇒ The Number of Eggs which Broke = 8

⇒ The Number of Eggs which were kept for Guests = 10
