P is multiplied by x because brackets are having multiplication sign. 2is multiplied by x and the power of 2 is added to the product of k multiplied by x is added to the product of root 2 . √2 =2.

since, x-1 is a factor of p(x)
therefore, p(1)=0
=2×1sq.+k×1+√2=0
=2+k+√2=0
=2√2+k=0
k=-(2+√2)
