Given,

Edge(side)=12cm

Volume =side^3

=》 12×12×12

Melted into 3 cubes of volume

cude with side 6cm

=6×6×6

cube with side8cm

=8x8x8

let the side be x

then

(8x8x8)+(6×6×6)+(x×x×x)=12×12×12

=》x^3=(12×12×12)-728

=》x^3=1728-728

=》x^3=1000

=》x=10

⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️
volume of cube is a^3
so, volume with side 12 cm is 12^3 = 1728

volume of cube with sides 6 cm is 6^3 =216

similarly for 8 cm is = 8^3 = 512

volume of third cube = 1728 - (216 +512) =1000

now ,a^3 = 1000

therefore a = 10 cm answer

Here is your answer:

edge of metal cube = 12

Volume of metal cube = a³

= 12³ = 12*12*12

Big metal cube is melted and formed into three smaller cubes.

Edge of 1st cube = 6 cm

Vol. of cube1 = a² = 6³ = 6*6*6

Edge of 2nd cube = 8 cm

Vol. of cube2 = a³ = 8³ = 8*8*8

Let edge of 3rd cube = x

So, Vol. of cube3 = x³

Now,vol. always remain same

Therefore,

Volume of big cube = volume of 3 small cube

12*12*12 = (8*8*8)+(6*6*6)+x³

1728 = 728 + x³

x³ = 1728-728

x³ = 1000

x³ = 10³

x = 10 cm

So, the edge of third cube

= 10 cm
