Answer:

2x+5y=9 (1)×5

5x-2y=9 (2)×2

Eliminating x in the equation (1) and (2):-

10x+25y=45 (3)

10x-4y=18 (4)

(-) (+) (-)

29y=27

y =  \frac{27}{29}

Substituting y=27/29 in (1)

2x+5y=9

2x + 5( \frac{27}{29} ) = 9

 2x  +   \frac{135}{29}  = 9

58x+135=261

58x=126

x =  \frac{126}{58}

x  = \frac{63}{29}

I also checked the answer by substituting and the answer can right.

Hence,

x =  \frac{63}{29}

y =  \frac{27}{29}
