In triangle ABC,

BD is the height

Therefore by pythagoras theorem,

ac^{2}   = bc^{2}  + ab^{2}  \\  ac  ^{2}  = 12 ^{2}  + 5 {}^{2}  \\ ac^{2} = 144 + 25 = 169 \\ ac = 13

SINalpha=opposites side / hypotenuse

=BC /AC

=5/13
