QUESTION:

 \frac{x}{2}  + y = 0.8 \\   \\ \frac{7}{x +  \frac{y}{2} }  = 10

ANSWER:

x = 0.4

y = 0.6

TO FIND:

 \frac{x}{2}  + y = 0.8 \\   \\ \frac{7}{x +  \frac{y}{2} }  = 10

EXPLANATION:

Take the first given equation

 \frac{x}{2}  + y = 0.8 \\   \\ \frac{ x + 2y}{2}  = 0.8\\  \\ x + 2y = 1.6

Take the second given equation

\frac{7}{x +  \frac{y}{2} }  = 10 \\  \\  \frac{7}{10}  = x +  \frac{y}{2}  \\  \\  \frac{2x + y}{2}  = 0.7 \\  \\ 2x + y = 1.4

Now we have two equations new 1 and 2

x + 2y = 1.6 ------> 1

2x + y = 1.4 -------> 2

Multiply the equation 1 by 2, we get

2(x + 2y) = 2(1.6) = 2x + 4y = 3.2

Subtract 2x + y = 1.4 from 2x + 4y = 3.2, we get

3y = 1.8

y = 0.6

Substitute y = 0.6 in x + 2y = 1.6

x + 2(0.6) = 1.6

x + 1.2 = 1.6

x = 1.6 - 1.4

x = 0.4

HENCE X = 0.4 AND Y = 0.6.
