Matter matters because all the materials on the earth is matter only.

The smallest unit of matter is atom. The atoms combine together to form compounds and based on that forms different substances such as solid, liquid and gas.
The living body is also made of atoms and molecule which provides life.All the things in universe is made of positively, negatively and neutral charges particles.
So, everything in the universe is made of matter so it matters.
