it is becuse of the strategical location of the place maynsynram due to which the ocean currents in the bay of bengal gets carried away to this place and also due to its mountanious features it is one of the wettiest region in the world.

vickybatra: this place is enclosed by hills in three sides.due to which it acts like a funnel and these hills trap the monsoon clouds from the bay of bengal and in the process of getting trapped in theis region it starts to rain heavily. i believe it clears your doubt.
adithi12: Thanks

<b>Mawsynram receive the highest amount of rainfall in the world because :

* The place is enclosed by hills on three sides.

* The relief feature give this place a funnel shaped location.

* The Bay of Bengal monsoon is trapped in these hills. These winds try to get out but are forced to pour down there.
