Answer:

b. What were the two classic responses of Akku on being asked where her husband was?

“Akku, where is your husband?”when somebody queried she could drive them to the brink of extinction. Not always. Sometimes she may even huddle as if brooding. At other times whatever the provocation she has a way of smirking, crookedly shaking her head, and keeping her silence.

c. Which places are compared by the poet in the poem “Chicago Zen”?

In the poem "Chicago Zen" Ramanujan compares his homeland with the foreign land Chicago which is in the U.S.A.

Later, he compares the Himalayan river to lake Michigan of USA.

The poem brings out the idea of living according to Zen Buddhist philosophy. According to the philosophy, "life is a continuous process". In the poem, the poet talks about living in a foreign land and remembering the people living in the native place.

f. Who does Jacques compare the school-boy to?

A simile is a figure of speech that makes a comparison between two different things using the words "like" or "as." Jacques, the speaker, uses several similes throughout the speech "The Seven Ages of Man" to compare various stages of man's life to different things. Discussing the second stage of man's life, the speaker uses a simile when he compares a whining schoolboy reluctantly walking to class to a snail ("creeping like a snail"). Just as a snail moves slowly, the disgruntled boy reluctantly walks to school. He is going very slowly to school because he would rather be somewhere else.  In this age of life, the boy's life centers around having to do things he does not want to do.

g. Who is Hephaestus?

Hephaestus, Greek Hephaistos, in Greek mythology, the god of fire. Originally a deity of Asia Minor and the adjoining islands (in particular Lemnos), Hephaestus had an important place of worship at the Lycian Olympus. His cult reached Athens not later than about 600 BCE (although it scarcely touched Greece proper) and arrived in Campania not long afterward. His Roman counterpart was Vulcan.According to myth, Hephaestus was born lame and was cast from heaven in disgust by his mother, Hera, and again by his father, Zeus, after a family quarrel. He was brought back to Olympus by Dionysus and was one of the only gods to have returned after exile. A blacksmith and craftsman, Hephaestus made weapons and military equipment for the gods and certain mortals, including a winged helmet and sandals for Hermes and armour for Achilles. Traditionally, his ill-matched consort was Aphrodite, though Homer lists Charis, the personification of Grace, as Hephaestus’s wife in the Iliad.

As god of fire, Hephaestus became the divine smith and patron of craftsmen; the natural volcanic or gaseous fires already connected with him were often considered to be his workshops. In art Hephaestus was generally represented as a middle-aged bearded man, although occasionally a younger, beardless type is found. He usually wore a short sleeveless tunic and a round close-fitting cap on his unkempt hair.

h. Who is Jacques in “All World‟s A Stage”?

Jaques is one of the main characters in Shakespeare's As You Like It. The 'Melancholy Jaques', as he is known, is one of Duke Senior's noblemen who lives with him in the Forest of Arden (or Ardennes). The role has long been a favourite for famous Shakespearean actors.

Jaques' role in the play is more of an observer than an actor. Early in the play, Jaques remains a mystery to the audience, being discussed extensively by fellow characters.

Though much about Jaques' past is obscure, his conversations with Rosalind show that he lost his optimism while traveling the world. Whatever the root of his bitterness, Jaques always places himself outside the group of happy characters who populate Arden.

His function seems to be to provide a sharp foil for the wit of other characters, but also to create a shadow within the sunny forest. Jaques is a constant reminder that in the real world time is not suspended, and grief, sorrow and death provide a counterpoint to all human joys, a kind of embodied presentiment of Poussin's 'Et in Arcadia ego'.

k. What is a Tuwaal according to Akku?

Akku was always to be seen with a‘tuwaal’ in her hand. According to her a ‘tuwaal’ was a handkerchief. Aman’s handkerchief. Nobody knows whose it is, how it came into her hand. There was not even any need to bother one’s head about it. It was just accepted that Akku always went with this ‘tuwaal’. Dropping it, misplacing it, losing it - there was no other occupation for Akku than to eternally keep searching for it. Let the dogs and wolves go eat the housework! She would not cease searching for the ‘tuwaal’, poking into every nook and corner again and again.
