Answer:

let the number be x.

the equation will be like this :

\frac{x}{5} - 5 = -2

(NOTE : We have to always take LCM of the two numbers before transposing the number to the other side.SO, First Take the LCM of 5 and 1[ any whole number the default denominator is 1].)

\frac{x-25}{5}  = -2

x - 25 = - 2 × 5

x - 25 = - 10

x = - 10 + 25

x = 15

Therefore, the number = 15.

Verification :

\frac{15}{5} - 5 = -2

⇒ 3 - 5 = -2

⇒ - 2 = -2

Hence proved.

12) Let the original amount be x.

TO x if we add 51 two times, the number will be 4 times of x.

So, the equation goes like this :

x + 51 + 51 = 4x

take all the variables to one side.

⇒ 51 +51 = 4x - x

⇒ 102 = 3x

⇒ 102/3 = x

⇒ 34 = x

So, the original amount = ₹34.

Hope this helps you out!
