Mean of 15 observations is 15. If each observation multiplied by 4 and devided by 4 res. then new mean is?

Sum of observations: 15*23

=345

If each observation is multiplied by 2 then the sum is also multiplied by 2.

:.New Sum: 345*2=690

:.New mean= 690/15=46

It is given in the question that mean of 15 observations is 15.

Therefore, the sum of all observations = Mean x Number of observations

                                                                = 15\times15 = 225

Now, each observation is multiplied by 4.

So, the sum of the observations will increase by = 15\times4 = 60.

But, each observation is divided by 4 again, so, the value of observations will not change and the total sum will remain same as earlier.

Hence, the new mean is 15 only.
