Let the sum of 15 observations = x

Given:-

\frac{x}{15} = 23

x = 15 × 23

Now, each observation is multiplied by 2

Hence,

\frac{2x}{15}[/tex}</p><p>As given above, </p><p>x = 15 × 23</p><p>New Mean </p><p>[tex]{2*15*23}{15}

New Mean = 2*23 = 46

Answer :-

The new mean is 43.

Solution :-

Mean of 15 observations = 23

Number of observations = 15

We know that

Sum of observations = Mean * Number of observations

Sum of observations = 23 * 15

= 345

Given each observation is multiplied by 2

So multiply sum of observation by 2

Sum of observations when each observation is multiplied by 2 = Sum of observation * 2

= 345 * 2

= 690

We know that

Mean = Sum of observations/Number of observations

So, New mean = 690/15

= 43

Therefore the new mean is 43.
